Spel’kúmtn Community Forest offers scholarships for graduating local youth enrolled in Forestry or Natural Resources academic or trades programs in the year following graduation.

Programs may include occupational, trades, or apprenticeship courses leading towards work in the forestry sector or degree programs in natural resource management, for example forestry, wildlife biology, or environmental studies.

In order to apply, please email spelkumtncf@gmail.com the following:

  • Letter of Interest: tell us about yourself and your plans to study or train in forestry or natural resources

  • Reference Letter: from a teacher, employer, community member

  • School transcript: ask at the school office

Applicant Eligibility

To be eligible for the SCF scholarship, students must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be a Líl'wat Nation member or resident of Pemberton area;

  • Be graduating from PSS or XCS the year of application; and,

  • Be entering into a post-secondary institution or trades/training program within one year of graduation


Selection Criteria

Once eligibility is established, scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Clear intention in pursuing a career in forestry or Natural Resources field

  • Demonstrated connection to the land/territory

  • Contribution to community

  • Strong references

  • Sound academic record
